The Provider

Woodland Wombat believes nobody should face the night hungry.

Strong, dependable, and practical, Wombat spends every day helping prepare food, pack supplies, and make sure people have what they need.

When Food Not Bombs volunteers prepare meals or deliver food hampers, Woodland Wombat is there in spirit, quietly helping carry the load.

Wombat reminds us that kindness isn’t complicated. Sometimes it simply means showing up with food when food is needed.

Riverstone Platypus

The Gatherer

Riverstone Platypus is always searching the riverbanks for hidden treasures. While others walk past, Platypus notices what has been overlooked and forgotten.

Riverstone Platypus is always searching the riverbanks for hidden treasures. While others walk past, Platypus notices what has been overlooked and forgotten.

At Food Not Bombs Hobart, Riverstone Platypus reminds us that good food should never go to waste. Every rescued loaf of bread, every box of fruit, and every bag of vegetables is another opportunity to help someone in need.

Platypus teaches us that abundance already exists—we simply need to gather it and share it.

Mascot Message:
“There is enough for everyone when we rescue and share.”

The Curious Echinda

The Listener

Curious Echidna asks questions others forget to ask.

Curious Echidna asks questions others forget to ask.

“How are you?”
“What do you need?”
“Would you like to talk?”

At Food Not Bombs Hobart, kindness begins with listening. Before solutions come conversations. Before assistance comes understanding.

Echidna reminds volunteers that every person has a story worth hearing and that dignity grows when people feel seen and respected.

Mascot Message:

Every person matters. Every story matters.

Wild heart Devil

The Courageous Helper

Wild Heart Devil never walks away from a challenge.

When storms arrive, when things become difficult, or when someone feels forgotten, Devil steps forward.

Food Not Bombs Hobart is built on ordinary people doing courageous things—sharing food, helping strangers, and creating community where it is needed most.

Wild Heart Devil reminds us that courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage looks like turning up with a meal, a smile, or an offer to help.

Mascot Message:

Small acts of courage create big acts of kindness.

The Lost Tiger

The Finder of Hope

The Lost Tiger wandered for many years searching for a place to belong.

Along the way, Tiger discovered something important: many people feel lost at different times in their lives.

Some have lost their home. Some have lost connection. Some have lost hope.

At Food Not Bombs Hobart, Tiger helps people find their way back to community. Around a shared meal, strangers become neighbours and neighbours become friends.

Tiger reminds us that nobody should have to walk alone.

“Hope grows when people gather together.”
