Sometimes good things begin with a simple conversation.
Recently, Ash from the New Sydney Hotel reached out to Food Not Bombs Hobart after seeing coverage of our work through Pulse News. What followed was the beginning of a partnership that we’re genuinely excited about.
Not long after making contact, Ash provided the first hot curry donation for our Saturday Shared Table. The timing was perfect. The curry was carried across the road and shared with the community alongside the food we were already serving.
The result was simple: it was eaten.
Every last bit.
For us, that’s often the best measure of success. Good food shared among good people.
What made this donation particularly special was that it wasn’t just food. It was a local business recognising the value of community connection and deciding to become part of it.
We’re pleased to say this is only the beginning.
Ash has already spoken with us about future curry donations and is also discussing the possibility of a fundraising event to support Food Not Bombs Hobart and the work happening through the Shared Table.
For more than ten years, our volunteers have been bringing people together around food, conversation, and community. Partnerships like this help strengthen that work and remind us that support can come from unexpected places.
We’re grateful to Ash and the team at the New Sydney Hotel for reaching out, for backing the community, and for helping make sure a few more people enjoyed a warm meal together.
We look forward to seeing where this partnership leads.
Thank you, Ash.
People from all walks of life, coming to the table, sharing food, and finding common ground. ❤️🍛
Photo suggestion: If possible, future posts would be even stronger with a photo of Ash alongside the curry donation or at the Shared Table. The story already resonated strongly online, and putting a face to the partnership would help celebrate the people making it happen.
