About Food Not Bombs Hobart

Free meals. Shared dignity. One table.

Food Not Bombs Hobart is a local mutual aid initiative led by Christiaan McCann, sharing free meals in the spirit of dignity and belonging.

Our purpose

Food is a right, not a privilege.

We share free meals with anyone who comes, no questions and no conditions. Everyone who sits at the table is a neighbour, and every meal is an act of mutual aid.

Food Not Bombs Hobart is volunteer-run and community-powered. We cook with what is donated and rescued, and we serve it in the spirit of dignity and belonging.

Community impact

What happens when we share a meal.

Nourishment

Free, wholesome meals for anyone who needs one, served warm and without judgement.

Belonging

A shared table where neighbours meet, talk and look out for one another.

Mutual aid

People helping people, with no hierarchy between those who give and those who receive.

Local action

Rooted in Hobart and run by the people who live here, for the people who live here.

Who leads us

A table where everyone is welcome, and no one is a stranger for long.

Christiaan McCann, FNB Hobart

FNB Hobart is led by Christiaan McCann and carried by volunteers who cook, serve and clean up together each week.
