Welcome to Food Not Bombs Hobart

Hello

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Food Not Bombs Hobart.

We’re excited that you’re considering becoming part of our community.

Food Not Bombs Hobart is more than a food relief program. We are a mutual aid community that brings people together to share food, skills, resources, and friendship. We believe everyone deserves access to good food, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

Our volunteers come from many different backgrounds. Some join us to help prepare meals, rescue food, distribute supplies, connect with community members, organise events, tell stories, transport food, or help behind the scenes. Whatever your experience level, there is a place for you here.

What happens next?

One of our team members will be in touch shortly to discuss how you would like to get involved and answer any questions you may have.

In the meantime, you’re welcome to attend one of our community gatherings and meet volunteers, participants, and organisers in person.

What we value

At Food Not Bombs Hobart we aim to:

  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Share resources freely and generously.
  • Build community through mutual aid rather than charity.
  • Welcome people from all walks of life.
  • Create opportunities for everyone to contribute according to their abilities.

A community where everyone contributes

While many people first encounter Food Not Bombs through our food-sharing activities, we see community as a two-way relationship. We encourage everyone involved—volunteers, participants, supporters, and partners—to share their own skills, knowledge, experiences, and gifts. Together we create a stronger, more connected Hobart.

Thank you again for reaching out. We look forward to meeting you and learning more about what you would like to bring to the community.

In solidarity,

Food Not Bombs Hobart
