Yesterday we were able to deliver a mattress to Pete, who is currently homeless.
A big thank you to Cameron and the team at Foodbank for making this possible. Looking at the mattress, it was clear that some real thought had gone into it. It didn’t seem like just any mattress that happened to be available. It appeared to be something carefully selected with the realities of homelessness in mind.
This morning we asked Pete for his review after spending a night on it.
His response was simple:
“Insulated and excellent back support… don’t feel the ground temperature.”
That says a lot.
When you’re sleeping rough, comfort is important, but so is warmth, support and protection from the cold coming up through the ground. Sometimes practical kindness is the difference between getting some rest and getting none at all.
Thank you, Cameron and Foodbank, for the quality, the thoughtfulness and the dignity behind this support. Pete noticed the difference after just one night.
